Boo-tastic Events in Greater Queens

At Farenga Family of Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, our staff members love celebrating Halloween alongside family and friends. One of our favorite ways to have fun at this time of year is to gather with loved ones at community events across Queens and Astoria. From daytime outdoor gatherings to evening indoor events, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in our area this October.

Halloween at the Garden

On Saturday, October 29, come out to the Queens Botanical Garden for a family-friendly day of spooky fun! Children and adults are encouraged to dress up for Halloween at the Garden, an annual event that draws families from across Greater Queens. Enjoy storytelling, live performances, games, crafts, and more. Walk the Trick-or-Treat trail with your little ones and support local businesses selling delicious food and drinks at the vendor fair, all while taking in the beauty of the gardens.

Halloween Harvest Festival

This year, Socrates Sculpture Park hosts the Halloween Harvest Festival on Friday, October 28, from 12-5 p.m. This fun-filled, free festival will feature the third annual “Flight of the Gourds” pumpkin carving contest showcasing the best pumpkin art from across Queens. Attendees can participate in engaging workshops, watch live performances, and support local food vendors. Chateau Le Woof and Friends with Four Paws will host a dog costume contest featuring the most adorable pups in the area. Learn more about this event here.

Pumpkin Patch

Throughout the entire month of October, wander through the pumpkin patch at the Queens County Farm Museum. These 47-acre grounds are a piece of New York’s history dating back to 1697! Pumpkins are available for purchase and priced by size—don’t forget to bring your own bag to carry your pumpkins home. Admission is free, and visitors are welcome to feed hay to goats and sheep at the farm. For more information, including opening hours, click here.
