Why the Details Matter at Farenga
The great Greek statesman, Pericles, said, “Wait for the wisest of all counselors, time.” It’s true that the passage of time and the experience it brings teaches us many things – lessons you cannot learn from a book or a school.
This is true not only for people, but also for businesses. Since 1876, the Farenga family has built a legacy of compassionate and quality service in Greater Queens, and today, we remain family owned and operated. Born and raised in Astoria, our current owner, Gus Antonopoulos grew up working at Farenga Funeral Home. He learned the business from his mentor, Felix A. Farenga and quickly realized his passion for helping people through life’s difficult moments. Gus attended St. John’s University and the American Academy-McAllister Institute of Funeral Service before acquiring Farenga and Sons Funeral Home in 1998. All this experience as an integral part of this community has been an education for both Gus and our entire team. We know how to serve our neighbors better than any other local funeral home.
Here are just a few ways our deep well of experience and commitment to excellence informs everything we do:
Whether your choice is traditional burial or cremation, we know how to create a funeral service that reflects your loved one’s religion, culture, and values. We are intimate with the many ethnicities that make up Astoria and the surrounding areas. We are familiar enough with your family’s traditions to make sure they shine through your loved one’s visitation and memorial.
When it comes to vehicles, we know this represents not only a convenience for you, but also a source of comfort. We offer only the highest quality vehicles, and we maintain them in pristine condition. Your funeral transportation will reflect your high standards – and ours.
Our beautiful facility was designed with you in mind. Our warm, home-like lighting and traditional, comforting furnishings provide the perfect place for you and your family to gather to pay your final respects to your loved one. We are also very conveniently located just minutes from Astoria Boulevard and the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, and we are the only funeral home in the area with a private parking lot. We know, at a time like this, parking is the last thing that should be on your mind.
We invite you to connect with us via our website or our Facebook page – we would love to give you a tour of Farenga Funeral Home. Whether you are at your moment of need, or you would like to plan for the future, we have the commitment to excellence that will bring your family peace of mind.
