John “Jack” Leroy Schmidt, 1939-2019, Astoria, NY

It is with great sadness that the family of Jack Schmidt, announces his passing at 80 years old. Jack will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend of 56 years, Eleanor, and his three daughters and their husbands, Joanne and John Burke, Carol Anne, Diane and Curtis Greene. Jack will also be fondly remembered by his three granddaughters, Jaclyn, Kayley, and Julia.

Jack served in the U.S. National Guard. He enjoyed cheering on the New York Rangers with his girls, Thursday night tennis, and spending his summers in Rocky Point, New York where he met the love of his life at 18 years old.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Jack on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 23-25 Newton Road, Astoria, New York, and St. Charles Cemetery.
