Penelope Tomais was born on February 10th 1924 on Staten Island to Jordan and Helen Tsourekias who both immigrated from Lemnos, Greece in 1910. She had three sisters by the names of Fay, Frances, and Georgia, who have all passed as well. She is survived by her husband George Tomais, daughter Tina Tomais Theodorou, Son-In-Law Vasilios Kyriakos Theodorou, and granddaughters Sophia Theodorou and Elaine Penelope Theodorou. She passed away peacefully due to natural causes at the age of 96 on Saturday May 9th 2020.

Penelope, who preferred to go by the name of Penny was a kind and genuine soul. She worked in her younger days as a fur operator until retirement. Her main concerns in life always involved her family. She only ever wanted the best for her daughter and granddaughters.

Penny’s granddaughter Sophia will be forever grateful for her relationship with her grandmother and is happy she could tell her grandmother she had successfully completed her college degree only days before passing. Her youngest granddaughter Elaine also held a special bond with her grandmother whose name she shared.

Penny’s family would like her to be remembered for her joy and kindness that she spread. They also would like to share Penny’s motto of life that she used and spread to help during troubling times. As she said “what’s in the past is in the past, don’t look back, always look ahead”. This is not a good-bye but rather, a so-long for now.
